Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck confirmed their reunion six months ago, and with Bennifer still going strong, Lopez has now opened up about rekindling their romance.

The couple, who re-defined celebrity dating in the early ’00s, found their way back to one another 17 years after calling off their engagement – and in that period of time, it appears the two have learned a lot.

Ahead of the release of J.Lo’s latest rom-com Marry Me later this month, the singer and actress spoke to The New York Times about her and Ben’s second shot at love.

“I would say we learned our lesson the first time,” she explained. “To hold it sacred.”

She continued: “You have to do what feels good to you all the time. But at the same time, you learn from the past, you do things better the second time.

“There’s a part of it that, yes, we’re together. But there’s a part of it that’s not, you know, being so open the way we were when we were so young and in love many years ago.”

Jennifer also offered her thoughts on her recent four-year relationship with Alex Rodriguez, which ultimately ended in another called-off engagement.

“When you’re in things, you do what feels right,” JLo argued. “And I don’t beat myself up over ‘I wish I had done this differently’ or ‘Did I do too much?’ That’s what was comfortable at the time.

“I did what I did. He did what he did. And it was fine. The relationship stuff had nothing to do with being public or not being public.”

So, while Jennifer certainly has no regrets about the public nature of her relationship with A-Rod, it seems as though the heady, paparazzi-filled days of 2002 Jennifer are unlikely to return.
