Apple now has 1.8 billion active devices around the world

Apple CEO Tim Cook revealed during a call with investors that his company now has 1.8 billion active devices around the world.
Apple had announced that it had 1.5 billion active devices in January 2020, according to The Verge.
Apple had exceeded one billion active iPhones a year ago, after it sold one billion iPhones in 2016, then it reached 900 million active iPhone users in 2019.
Apple counts the device as “active” for as long as it’s shared an Apple service within the past 90 days, so the 1.8 billion figure covers a variety of Apple devices.
Apple’s announcement of the number of its active devices coincides with its disclosure of its earnings report for the first quarter of 2022 (ending December 25, 2021), in which it broke revenue records in all areas, achieving a net income of $34.63 billion, with Gross profit margins increased to about 43.8 percent.
It is noteworthy that Google revealed last year that there are more than 3 billion active devices running the Android operating system and able to access the Google Play Store for applications.
Earlier this week, Microsoft revealed that there are now 1.4 billion active devices running Windows 10 and Windows 11.
