Russian nutritionist Anna Melikhina told how one day a week without meat affects health.
According to the expert, many nutritional associations recommend getting into the habit of giving up meat for a day. This is due to the excessive intake of solid fats, which leads to an increased risk of many diseases.
Additionally, most people are deficient in dietary fiber.
The expert explains that “giving up meat for one day leads to an increase in the amount of vegetables, legumes, whole grains and fish,” according to the MediForum website.
At the same time, vegetables are sources of dietary fiber, vitamins and minerals for the body, and some (broccoli, cabbage, leafy green vegetables) are good vegetarian sources of calcium.
In turn, whole, unprocessed grains will improve bowel function, fish will become a source of protein with unsaturated fats that improve the condition of the heart and blood vessels, and legumes will ensure the intake of vegetable protein, magnesium, manganese and copper.
