‘Scream’ eliminates ‘Spider-Man’, earning $30.6 million

Paramount Pictures’ remake of “Scream” topped the box office with $30.6 million over the weekend, according to US distributors.

The new movie “The Scream” is the fifth part of the famous horror and murder series, but it is a new release that includes a younger cast of heroes.

The movie topped the box office this weekend, while Paramount expects to gross $35 million, including Monday’s total.

The production cost of “Scream” was approximately $24 million, bringing in an additional $18 million in 50 international markets.

Spyglass Media Group acquired the rights to the films “The Scream”, which was once a golden egg for the former “Bob and Harvey Weinstein” company, Miramax, and Spyglass Media produced the new film in cooperation with Paramount, which is directed by Matt Petinello Olbin and Tyler Gillette, featuring original ‘Scream’ series members Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette along with new additions Melissa Barrera, Gina Ortega and Jack Quaid.

For his part, “Spider-Man” earned $ 20.8 million in its fifth week of release, and “Sony Pictures” expects the film to bring in another $ 5.2 million, to record the film domestically so far at $ 703.9 million on Monday, outperforming “Black Panther” .

Universal Pictures’ “Sing 2” came in third on its fourth weekend, bringing in $8.3 million over its three-day weekend.

The animated film grossed $122.1 million domestically and an additional $96.3 million internationally.
