A 71-year-old man in Sweden has been rescued from cardiac arrest during a snowy roadblock and resuscitated by a doctor nearby after a drone flew with a pacemaker.
A person experiencing cardiac arrest required assistance within 10 minutes in order to survive, according to the website “everdrone”.
Everdrone’s Emergency Medical Air Delivery (EMADE) service is designed to provide assistance as quickly as possible in an emergency, and allows emergency dispatchers to send a drone carrying medical devices to the caller’s home.

In this particular patient’s case, the service took three minutes to deliver the defibrillator to his home.
The drone was developed with the Center for Resuscitation Sciences at “Karolinska Institutet” and “SOS Alarm”.
“This is an excellent real-world example of how Everdrone’s cutting-edge drone technology, fully integrated with emergency dispatch, can reduce the time for life-saving equipment to arrive,” said Mats Saleström, CEO of Everdrone.
Currently, EMADE can reach 200,000 Swedish residents. The company said it plans to expand to more locations in Europe this year.
