Full House star Bob Saget has passed away at age 65. Born on May 17, 1956, Saget got started in the entertainment industry in 1980 when he appeared in the short Devices. After nabbing a handful of roles on television, Saget’s breakout part came in the beloved sitcom Full House, where he played patriarch Danny Tanner for 8 seasons. He would later reprise that role in the Netflix sequel series Fuller House, which ran for an additional 5 seasons. However, Saget only appeared in a total of 15 episodes alongside original stars Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, and Andrea Barber.

Beyond the Full House franchise, Saget supplied his voice for the long-running sitcom How I Met Your Mother; he voiced the older Ted Mosby, providing narration for all of his stories. He also hosted America’s Funniest Home Videos from 1989 to 1997. Over the years, Saget made guest appearances on a number of television shows, sometimes even playing himself. For example, he played himself on 4 episodes of the HBO series Entourage. Most recently, he was a contestant on The Masked Singer.

According to TMZ, Saget passed away on Sunday, January 9, at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando, Florida. He was 65. The sheriff’s and fire departments responded to the hotel around 4PM after security found Saget in his room. It’s said he was pronounced dead at the scene, though a cause of death has not been released. Saturday night, Saget performed a comedy show in Jacksonville as part of his I Don’t Do Negative tour. His last tweet celebrated the event, which him even writing, “I had no idea I did a 2 hr set tonight. I’m happily addicted again to this shit.”

Saget was a gifted comedian, performing a number of stand-up shows over the course of his career. His 2014 comedy album, That’s What I’m Talkin’ About, earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Comedy Album. His current tour had a number of dates scheduled for the weeks ahead. Beyond comedy and television, Saget appeared in various films throughout the years, with 2003’s Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd standing as one of the most prominent. His final onscreen appearance, the film Killing Daniel, has yet to be released.

Saget will certainly be remembered for his humor and the warmth he brought to the part of Danny Tanner. For those who grew up watching Full House and later returned to the Tanner household with Fuller House, Saget felt like a father figure. Losing him is quite a blow, particularly because of how sudden it came about. Nevertheless, he’s made his mark on the entertainment industry and the hearts of viewers everywhere, and he won’t be forgotten any time soon.
