Moroccan cinemas began showing the movie “Day of Redemption”, which sparked widespread controversy and criticism, especially among Algerians, for its political messages.

The film tells the story of a famous American archaeologist, who went to Morocco after discovering the oldest human bones dating back 30,000 years. However, she was kidnapped on the Moroccan-Algerian border by a terrorist group in Algeria affiliated with ISIS, so her husband decided to come to Morocco to Salvaged.

Although the film is presented in the form of excitement and “action”, Moroccan director Hicham Hajji says that the film “carries strong political messages related to the Moroccanness of the Sahara, and the tremendous efforts undertaken by the Central Bureau for Judicial Research (BCIJ) in combating terrorism and establishing peace and security in the country. It was reported by Hespress newspaper.

Hajji added that he was keen, through his exciting scenes, to show a “strong and wonderful Morocco through this cinematic work.”

Hajji responded to the campaign he launched against Algerians by saying that “the Algerian government has held a grudge against Morocco for a long time, and it is ridiculous to judge a work of art based on its promotional advertisement. If they had seen the film, they would have known that I never attacked them. Basically, French people of Arab origin came to Algeria and settled there.
