In a rare event of its kind.. the birth of twins in two different years

Twins were born just 15 minutes apart but in two different years, on New Year’s Eve between 2021 and 2022.
One of the twins was born in California, minutes before midnight at the end of 2021, and the other was just at midnight on New Year’s Eve 2022.

The mother, Fatima Madrigal, gave birth to her child, Alfredo Antonio Trujillo, at 11:45 pm, and 15 minutes later, Alfredo’s sister, Eileen Yolanda Trujillo, was born in the middle of the night at the beginning of 2022.

“It’s crazy to me that they are twins and have different birthdays,” the mum said in a press release.

Dr. Anna April Arias, the hospital’s family physician, described this birth as “one of the most memorable of my professional life”.
