The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center announced that an earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale was recorded in the Fiji archipelago in the South Pacific Ocean, on Sunday evening.
“The tremor occurred at a depth of 40 km,” he added.
The Republic of Fiji is an archipelago located in the southern Pacific Ocean, and its capital is the city of Suva.
The archipelago consists of about 840 islands of different sizes, spread over a geographical area of 3 million square kilometers. The population of Fiji is more than 926,000, according to 2018 statistics.
