Brentford coach calls for the English Premier League to be suspended due to the Corona outbreak

Brentford coach Thomas Frank has called on the Premier League to grant a holiday and postpone all matches in the coming weeks in light of the increase in cases of Covid-19 infection between clubs.

The Brentford match against Manchester United on Tuesday was postponed after United closed its training headquarters with the outbreak of infection, and the Burnley match and its guest Watford were canceled due to HIV infections in the visiting team.

“Covid-19 infections are increasing dramatically in all Premier League clubs,” Frank told a press conference, where he revealed the presence of 13 positive cases of the virus in his team.

“Everyone is dealing with it and everyone is facing problems now,” he added.

The Danish coach continued, “The postponement of this round of the league, in addition to the League Cup matches, will give everyone at least a week to recover and do everything necessary in the training grounds so that everything is fine with each team.”

Brentford is scheduled to play Southampton in the league on Saturday and then face Chelsea in the League Cup on Wednesday.

He continued, “The club has communicated regularly with the league in the past few days.”

The Premier League’s postponement policy is based on a case-by-case approach.

The last Premier League report on vaccination levels among players was last October, indicating that 81 percent of players received at least one dose of vaccines, and 68 percent received two doses.
