Russia wins grand prize at Arctic Open International Film Festival

The Fifth International Open Film Festival of Arctic Countries (Arctic Open) concluded on Sunday 12 December in the city of Arkhangelsk in northwestern Russia.

The Russian film “The Second Sun” directed by Rinat Tachymov won a major prize in the feature film category. It is a comedy and a fairy tale at the same time, inspired by the lives of the two generations of residents of a remote Tatar village in Siberia.
The Russian actress and jury member of the festival, Victoria Tolstoganova, said at the award ceremony that the Russian film was honored with the award for its originality and honesty in creating a distinguished living reality.

Elsewhere, a Danish film directed by Wibiki Brild, won an award in the Documentary category. The Russian director, Irina Vasilieva, indicated that the Danish film is a real magical symphony about myths and nature, and the Danish film “Victor on the Moon” was awarded an award in the short films category.

The film “I’m Only Normal”, directed by Russian Anton Bagdanov, won an award in the “Children’s Films” category. As for the media award, the documentary “The Annoying Bear”, directed by the Canadian, Jake Wiseman, went to the art of revealing the problem of coexistence between man and nature.
