The draw for the round of 16 of the European Champions League will take place shortly, today, Monday, in the Swiss city of Nyon, after the completion of the contract for the qualifiers last week.
This time, the draw is witnessing 4 exceptional events, as the Catalan team, Barcelona, is absent from the round of 16 for the first time in nearly 21 years, after failing to overcome the group stage, to turn into the European League.
While Inter Milan returned to the final price after an absence of 10 years, specifically since the 2011-2012 season.
As usual, Argentine stars Lionel Messi and Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo will be present, but with two teams other than Barcelona and Real Madrid for the first time.
Nor will the rule of “goal advantage abroad” that has been in place for 56 years, no longer exist.
In the event that any two teams are tied in the total of the two matches, they will go directly to overtime, regardless of the number of goals scored in the two rounds.

Four teams from England are participating in the draw for the round of 16, with the largest participation of any other country, while Austrian Red Bull Salzburg qualified for the first time in its history.
The qualified teams are divided into two parts:
First Division Teams leading the groups: Ajax Amsterdam, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Liverpool, Lille, Manchester City, Manchester United and Real Madrid.
And the second division for the qualified teams in the runner-up: Atletico Madrid, Benfica, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Salzburg, Sporting Lisbon and Villarreal.
Round of 16 matches:
The European Football Association (UEFA) has set the dates for the first leg matches, to be held on 15, 16, 22 and 23 February next year.
The return matches will take place on 8, 9, 15 and 16 March 2022.
Quarter-final draw dates:
After deciding the identities of the qualifiers for the quarter-finals, UEFA will hold the draw for the final price on Friday, March 18, 2022.
