An improper diet can lead not only to digestive problems, but also to depression.

According to the interview of the nutritionist, endocrinologist, Viktor Zileev, on the “Moscow 24” TV channel: “We are primarily talking about the use of fatty foods, such as pork, lamb and some fermented dairy products.”

“Cholesterol in foods rich in animal fats increases the risk of depression by 40%,” he adds.
The doctor called for moderate consumption of sugar, explaining that “due to fluctuations in glucose and insulin in the blood, the person’s mood may improve first, and then deteriorate sharply.”

The specialist advised not to drink a lot of coffee, especially in case of increased fatigue, as well as not to get carried away in eating baked goods and refined foods, because both of them can affect health and provoke depression.

Alternatively, the nutritionist recommended a Mediterranean diet based on fish, seafood, vegetables, fruits and vegetable oils.
