International star Kimberly Noelle Kardashian West, better known by her acronym Kim Kardashian, has chartered a plane from a Jewish organization to transport 130 Afghan women footballers to Britain with their families.

According to what was published by the Afghan star Khaleda Popal, the former captain of the Afghan national football team, through her account on the social networking site Twitter, she said: “A group of Afghan women footballers and their families, who fled to Pakistan after the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, arrived in Britain.”

Bhopal confirmed that “the plane carrying them was rented by a Jewish relief organization and paid for by Kim Kardashian West.”

She thanked former Afghanistan captain Kardashian, saying, “Thank you from the bottom of my heart for generously donating all the money to this trip.”

The International Football Association (FIFA) confirmed last October that the evacuation of a second group of 57 refugees from Afghanistan linked to the game of football and women’s basketball, consisting mainly of women and children, had been completed after negotiations.

Earlier this year, Australia evacuated more than 50 Afghan players and their families, after pressure from leading figures from the sports world, while several players of Afghanistan’s young women’s national soccer team were granted asylum in Portugal.

The Taliban took control of Afghanistan in mid-August, stressing that they are open to dealing with society, as they promised not to repeat their previous experience, which prohibited girls’ education and women’s going out to public places without a mahram with them.
