A fisherman has disappeared after an attack by river pirates in Brazil and was found dead in the teeth of a three-meter caiman fish.
About seven river pirates attacked the ship carrying fisherman Elias Araujo and his friend Roberto Jose.
Jose managed to escape from the attackers and hide in the woods. The man was found alive. He was frightened and shocked. He was taken to the hospital and discharged two days later.
According to the Mirror, Jose reported Araujo’s disappearance, and rescuers and local residents went looking for him.
They found his remains on the banks of the Rio Negro River. The Brazilian’s corpse was eaten by a three-meter black caiman.
The reptile was captured and killed in order to perform an autopsy and recover Araujo’s remains. Parts of the man’s body were sent for forensic examination in the state capital of Manaus.
The police are investigating the circumstances of the fisherman’s disappearance. It is not known whether pirates killed him and threw the body into the water, or if the man attacked him as a creeper when he tried to escape from the robbers.
The black caiman is one of the largest living crocodiles. Their teeth are designed to swallow their prey without chewing, so they usually try to sink or crush the prey before swallowing it. If you come across prey that is too large, the caiman will store it until it begins to rot. Then the victim’s flesh softens, and they can tear pieces of it.
