Facebook hires 10,000 employees in Europe to change the look of the Internet forever

The American social networking company, Facebook, announced its plans to employ 10,000 people in the European Union, as part of a revolutionary plan to develop the form of the Internet.

And Facebook is seeking by recruiting thousands in Europe to develop the so-called “Metaverse”, a virtual reality version of the Internet that allows users to play, work and communicate, according to the British newspaper, “Daily Mail”.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg had previously expressed his ambition about the concept of the “Metaverse”, which would blur the lines between the physical world and the digital world.

The new technology allows someone to wear a virtual reality headset, to feel as if they are facing a friend face to face, even though they are thousands of miles away and connected online.

In an official statement, Facebook confirmed that

The ‘Metaverse’ has the potential to help unlock access to new creative, social and economic opportunities that Europeans will properly shape from the very beginning.”

“Today we announce a plan to create 10,000 new highly skilled jobs within the European Union over the next five years,” she added.

“Investing in the EU offers many advantages, including a large consumer market, first-class universities, and most importantly, high-quality talent,” Facebook said.

The “social media giant” indicated that the new jobs would include “highly specialized engineers”, but did not reveal any other details about its plans for the new “Metaverse” team.

But Facebook’s new job announcement was met with disapproval by many of its users, and they suggested that Facebook instead focus on hiring more middlemen and tackling the spread of misinformation on its platforms, rather than dumping money on the metaverse.

The announcement comes shortly after all Facebook-owned apps were down for nearly 7 hours worldwide, including Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram, and the outages cost Facebook nearly revenue. of $100 million, according to estimates.
What is the “Metaverse”?

A group of virtual spaces, where you can play, work and connect with other people who are not in the same physical space as you.

“You’ll be able to hang out with friends, work, play, learn, shop, create and more,” Facebook said.

“It’s not necessarily about spending more time online, but about making the time you spend online more useful,” she stressed.

Facebook stressed that the Metaverse is not a single product that one company can build alone, and it will not be built overnight, and explained that many of these products will be fully realized only within the next ten to fifteen years.
