5.1-magnitude earthquake strikes central Iran

A short while ago, the city of Yazdanshahr, in central Iran, was hit by an earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale.
This evening, Saturday, IRNA news agency quoted the Seismological Center at Tehran University as saying that the city of Yazdanshahr, in the north of Kerman Province in central Iran, was hit by an earthquake at 3:16 p.m. on Saturday.

The earthquake occurred at the confluence of the eastern longitude 56:51 and the northern latitude 30:95 degrees, and at a depth of 10 km from the surface of the earth.

The Iranian National Seismological Center indicated that the epicenter of the earthquake, with a magnitude of 5.1 on the Richter scale, is 15 km from the city of Yazdanshahr, 16 km from Zarand, and 25 km from the city of Kianshahr, also affiliated with Kerman.

The statement of the Seismological Center at the University of Tehran, Iran, did not reveal the extent of the damage caused by the accident, so far.
