The UAE announces the first robot investigator… a robot to investigate children’s crimes

Umm Al Qaiwain Police in the United Arab Emirates has unveiled the first robotic investigator to be certified in children’s crimes.

According to the “Emirates Today” website, the new robot, called “Robotok”, officially started its work on October 1, according to what was announced by the Umm Al Qaiwain Police General Command.

Major General Sheikh Rashid bin Ahmed Al Mualla, Commander-in-Chief of Umm Al Quwain Police, issued a job card for the robot, stressing that it is concerned with investigating crimes against children.

Umm Al Qaiwain Police General Command said that the robot worked as a trial period for 3 years, noting that it “achieved impressive results in the investigation of crimes against children.”

And about the nature of the language spoken by “Robotok” during the investigation, Umm al-Quwain police said that he can speak both Arabic and English, in addition to using the local dialect.

She explained that the robot has the ability to detect children’s psychological states, and can change their facial expressions 360 times, which can lead to their reassurance during the investigation.

She explained that the robot can find out who was interrogating them, by “facial recognition technology, reading his expressions, pronouncing written questions to direct them to the child through the control screens, and displaying the photos of the suspects through the iPad.”

It is noteworthy that the announcement of the new robot coincides with the launch of “Expo 2020 Dubai”, which is the most important occasion in the recent history of the UAE.
