For the first time… Ethiopia’s Sesay Lima and Kenyan Joycelyn Gipkosgee win the London Marathon

Ethiopia’s Sesay Lima won the men’s London Marathon title on Sunday, while Kenya’s Jocelyn Gipkosgee won the women’s title, making it their first in their careers.

Lima, who climbed to the podium last year, clocked two hours, four minutes and one second, was 27 seconds ahead of Kenya’s Vincent Kipchoma, who finished second, while Musinette Jeremio took third place, and defending champion Shura Kitata finished sixth.

Jocelyn finished the race in a time of two hours 17 minutes and 43 seconds, while defending champion and world record holder Brigid Kosgei slipped to a bottom position.

Gipkosgee was 15 seconds ahead of Ethiopia’s Digitu Azimirao, who finished second, while Ashite Bekere was third.
