Korean boy band BTS stars at the United Nations

The South Korean pop music group BTS, delivered a speech from the United Nations Headquarters, garnered great attention as it tackled issues such as vaccines against COVID-19, youth issues and the planet’s recovery.

The seven members of the singing group stood in front of the green marble in the United Nations General Assembly Hall, during the “SDG Moment” event to help advance the United Nations 2030 goals including ending extreme poverty, preserving the planet and achieving gender equality.

“Every choice we make is the beginning of a change, not the end,” said RM, the leader of the singing group.

"All seven of us of course received vaccinations."

South Korean President Moon Jae-in introduced pop stars as special presidential envoys and “an exceptional group of young people connected to young people around the world.”

The band members took turns speaking on the podium of the United Nations General Assembly during the seven-minute period allotted to them.

But not only did they talk about the goals of the United Nations, but the team also revealed their new music video, “Permission to Dance”, which was filmed at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

The group sang their song “No Need to Repeat, Just Do the Job” as they decorated the path from the United Nations Assembly Hall towards the East River park, dancing.
