Teenager hospitalized for addiction to the game “Fortnite”

A Spanish teenager has been hospitalized for two months for treatment of his addiction to the online game “Fortnite”.

The 15-year-old was sent to hospital for two months of treatment for a “severe behavioral addiction to the video game Fortnite”.
According to the press service of the Spanish University of Jaume, the study was conducted by Castellon Provincial Hospital, Jaume University and Castellon University Hospital.

“This is the first published case in the world of a teenager who required hospitalization for his addiction to the video game Fortnite, as the group of researchers did not find any previously published links in the main studied databases,” the university said.

Among the symptoms that caused the teenager to enter the hospital, he did not leave the house for a long time, avoided contact with others, refused to contact medical services, did not show interest in what was happening around him, showed great selectivity in his tastes, had limited activities, and had a sleep disorder, He doesn’t care about personal hygiene and was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, and Complex Grief Disorder due to the loss of his mother (she died a year ago from cancer after two years of illness).

Electronic games often cause negative effects such as heavy attachment to the phone, sleep disturbance and backache.
