68

Reba McEntire had to be rescued by the fire department after a staircase collapsed in a building that she was touring.

According to TMZ, the country icon and her boyfriend, Rex Linn, were touring an old building in Atoka, Okla., when it started to partially crumble and a staircase collapsed.

The building, which was over 100 years old, was being renovated and the stairs were on the docket to be replaced, a local official said. Reba and several others were on the second floor when the incident happened on Sept. 14.

Why she was touring the building isn’t known. There’s also a question as to why anyone was let inside the building if officials knew the structure was compromised, as evidenced by the fact the stairs were set to be replaced due to deficiencies.
