China bans homosexuals on TV

Chinese authorities have banned “bisexual men” from appearing on television.

China Radio and Television Administration said:
“It is necessary to vigorously develop outstanding Chinese traditional culture, revolutionary culture and advanced socialist culture, to determine the correct aesthetic orientation of the programs.”

The authorities demanded that the ostentatious enjoyment of life, rumors and scandals, vulgar Internet celebrities, as well as negative phenomena that attract wide attention, be disregarded.

In addition, the administration ordered that television channels and electronic platforms strictly control the selection of actors and guests, and the assessment, subject of political literacy and morals.

She stressed that those who take a “wrong political stance and separate from the party and the state”, and who have violated laws, regulations or public order, will not be allowed to appear on television.
