Two newlyweds force those who did not attend their wedding to pay the costs of reserving their place

Two newlyweds caused an uproar on social media, after circulating a bill they sent to their guests who confirmed their attendance at their wedding, but failed to attend at the last minute.

According to the bill in circulation, it imposes a fee of $ 240 on all guests who did not attend the wedding, which was held in Jamaica, according to the American newspaper “New York Post”.

The text of the bill reads: “This bill has been sent to you because you confirmed (seat(s)) at the wedding during the final tally of invitees.”

The invoice indicated that the above amount is the cost of your individual seats, since you did not call us or give us proper notice that you will not be present, this amount is what you owe us to pay for (your seat(s) in advance.”

And the New York Post revealed the identity of the couple behind the bill, which was heavily circulated on social media, Doug Simmons and Dedra McGee, from the American city of Chicago.

The groom, Doug Simmons, initially shared a picture of the controversial bill on his Facebook account, and justified his strange action as “not a trivial person, and confirmed that these bills will be paid.”

The groom explained that the situation was not so much about money as about the principle of not getting an alert from the guests that they would not attend, especially after additional payments had been made.

Simmons confirmed to the newspaper that he and his bride asked the guests four times if they were ready to attend the wedding, and if they could attend, and they kept answering them “yes”, which made them pay in advance for their reserved places.
