The case of a young woman being assaulted and stripped naked by a crowd of men has sparked outrage across the country.

The incident occurred in the eastern city of Lahore when a crowd of about 400 people attacked the young woman, a maker of Tik Tok content, while she was shooting a video with her team in a national park last Saturday.

A disturbing clip of the incident spread very quickly on social media and sparked widespread condemnation, and the hashtags related to the incident were among the most prominent on Twitter in Pakistan.

Police registered a case against 400 men and launched a search campaign with the help of the video.

Politicians, human rights activists, celebrities and ordinary individuals renewed their calls to protect women in the country.

Prime Minister Imran Khan directed the provincial police chief to apprehend the perpetrators.

Amnesty International has asked the Pakistani authorities to provide greater protection for women in public spaces.
