An American doctor reveals a dangerous effect of teeth whitening

A study conducted by researchers at the University of Toronto found that widely available tooth whiteners cause severe damage to tooth enamel.

According to the Mediforum website, a study published in the journal Scientific Report evaluated tooth cell damage caused by teeth whitening with carbamide peroxide.
The researchers found that using a whitening gel with a concentration of only 10 percent reduced the enamel protein content by up to 50 percent.

The study showed that the loss of protein in the enamel leads to a greater penetration of the whitening agent in the tooth, which is fraught with fibrosis of pulp cells.

This is the first study to demonstrate the toxic effects of teeth whitening agents. “We hope that people will take this information into account and consult a dentist,” says Laurent Boucek, assistant professor in the UCSD School of Dentistry, (leader of the study).
