La Liga .. Lamela scores two goals in a perfect start with Seville

Eric Lamela enjoyed a perfect start to his career with Sevilla after scoring twice in the 3-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano, in his new side’s first game in La Liga.

The return of Vallecano goalkeeper Luca Zidane, son of former Real Madrid coach Zinedine, was disastrous for the first division, as he received a red card in the 16th minute after he obstructed Sevilla midfielder Osama Idrissi, who was on his way to score.

Moroccan striker Youssef Al-Nusairi scored against substitute goalkeeper Stoli Dimitrievsky from the penalty spot to give Sevilla an early lead, and the Andalusian team seemed to be in control throughout the match against the newly promoted Rayo, who were promoted to the first division.

Lamela, who joined Sevilla from Tottenham Hotspur in the transfer of Spanish striker Brian Gil to the London club, came as a substitute in the second half and needed less than 10 minutes to leave his mark.

The Argentine player took advantage of the chaos inside the penalty area to hit the ball towards the goal and into the net after it hit one of the visiting team’s defenders.

Lamela scored again in the 79th minute after entering the penalty area and slipping to the ground to meet a low cross from Al-Nusayri before embracing his new teammate and celebrating in front of 15,000 fans who returned to Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium for the first time in 17 months.
