Earlier, Angers topped the standings with a 3-0 victory over 10 guest players from Lyon, and Angers deserved the victory and could have inflicted a heavier defeat on its guest, especially after Maxwell Cornet, left back of the visiting team, was sent off in the 65th minute for receiving a second warning.

Moroccan Sofiane Boufal put Angers in front with a shot from a difficult angle in the 20th minute, and the hosts doubled the score in the 53rd minute through a counter-goal from Marcelo, as the defender deposited the ball past his colleague goalkeeper Anthony Lopez.

Moroccan substitute Azzedine Onahi, who joined Angers during the current transfer period from third-tier opponents Avranche, scored his first goal in the top flight with a superb touch after the ball rebounded from the goal frame moments before.
