The head of the Lebanese Future Movement, Saad Hariri, expressed his thanks to countries that rushed to provide aid to the injured and families of the victims of the explosion of a fuel tanker in Akkar, northern Lebanon.
An official statement issued by Hariri’s media office stated that he had made a series of contacts that included a number of countries, which resulted in the UAE initiative to treat the injured and compensate the families of the victims.
Al-Hariri’s office quoted the competent authorities in the Kingdom of Jordan that they will provide quantities of medicines and first aid in order to treat the injured.

Saad Al-Harir’s statement added that he had received a notification from the Turkish leadership to send a medical team for the same purpose.
In his statement, the head of the Future Movement called on “all friends and brothers to support Akkar and its children in these difficult circumstances.”

Earlier, this Sunday morning, the Lebanese Red Cross said that 20 people were killed and more than 7 others were injured in a fuel tanker explosion in the Akkar region of northern Lebanon.
The Red Cross said on Twitter: “The initial outcome in Akkar: The Lebanese Red Cross transported 20 dead and more than 7 wounded from the explosion of a fuel tanker.”
Lebanon is currently suffering from a severe shortage of fuel, and the country has witnessed in recent days, incidents of hijacking of tankers. Hospitals have announced they are running out of fuel and may have to close.
