Johnny Depp achieves a rare victory over his ex-wife Amber Heard over her divorce settlement in the millions… “a calculated lie”

Johnny Depp has scored a rare victory as he tries to find out if his ex-wife, actress Amber Heard, has fulfilled her promise in her $7 million divorce settlement.

Heard, 35, pledged to donate her divorce settlement to the American Civil Liberties Union and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, after her split from 58-year-old Johnny Depp in 2016.

“She has remained financially independent from Johnny Depp for the entire time we were together, and the entire amount of the divorce settlement has been donated to charity,” Amber Heard said in a statement on February 26.

However, Depp’s attorney, Andrew Caldecott, argued that the donation promised by Amber Heard was a “calculated and manipulative lie” that “turned the scales against Depp from the start,” he says.

Caldecott also alleged that Children’s Hospital Los Angeles informed Depp’s business advisor in 2019 that Heard had not made any payments.

A New York judge has now partially agreed to a petition by Johnny Depp’s legal team, which would force the ACLU to release documents confirming whether his ex-wife, Amber Heard, fulfilled her pledge.

Johnny Depp’s lawyer, Benjamin Chiu, told USA Today that his client, the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star, was “extremely grateful” for the court’s decision.

It is noteworthy that Johnny Depp lost last November a defamation lawsuit in London against the publisher of the British newspaper “The Sun”, after a headline in 2018 described him as a “wife-beater”.

In March 2021, Donny Depp lost an appeal against the Supreme Court ruling.

On the other hand, Johnny Depp fans have submitted a petition to the makers of the sequel to the superhero movie “Aqua Man” to exclude Amber Heard from co-starring.

The petition, which attracted more than a million signatures, accuses Heard of “launching a systematic crusade to destroy Johnny Depp in Hollywood.”
