Jack Rowan teases “wild ride” horror movie Boys from County Hell

Peaky Blinders star Jack Rowan has revealed that his new horror-comedy Boys from County Hell is a “wild ride”.

The 24-year-old – best known for playing boxing champion Bonnie Gold in Peaky and leading the BBC’s adaptation of Noughts + Crosses – has to fight off undead horde in the movie from writer-director Chris Baugh.

Rowan and his pals make a mistake of supernatural proportions in Boys from County Hell when they awaken an ancient curse on their Irish village by disturbing the grave of a notorious vampire.

Speaking recently to Digital Spy about the film, Rowan hinted at the unique blend of outrageous humour and terrifying gore intermingled in Boys from County Hell.

“[Viewers are] going to get a wild ride,” he promised. “It will keep them on their toes and when you think it’s going one way, it’ll go another. And amongst all the craziness, there will be moments where there’s a lot of heart.”

Rowan plays Eugene Moffatt, a townie thrust into the role of village saviour when he has to save the survivors from a rampaging vampire.

“I love him. Yeah, I love him. He’s my hero,” the actor joked. “On the one hand, he is sort of perhaps not going anywhere with regards to his life, as in big dreams and crazy aspirations.

“But I think he’s very, very happy with that. Very content with living a life working, earning money and having fun, and I connect with that as well. His life is simple and I kind of envy that in some sense.”
