Arthritis is swelling in one or more joints, leading to severe pain and has more than 100 known types.
Symptoms can be very debilitating, complicating even simple tasks. Although there is no cure for arthritis, changing some aspects of your lifestyle can reduce some symptoms.
Some fruits may be “common pain triggers” for osteoarthritis, according to the Physicians’ Committee, a US nonprofit organization.
The list includes:
• citrus fruits
• apple
• the banana
It’s worth noting that other types of fruit have been shown to relieve arthritis symptoms.
According to the Arthritis Foundation (AF), research shows that eating watermelon reduces CRP levels.
C-reactive protein (CRP) is a marker of systemic inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis, a common form of arthritis.
“Watermelon contains 92% water, which makes it an excellent hydrating and weight control agent,” says AF.
Why is it important to lose weight with arthritis
Maintaining a healthy weight is critical to preventing a myriad of health issues, but it also provides direct benefits for arthritis.
“If you are overweight, losing weight can really help you relieve arthritis pain.”
Regular exercise also reduces the effects of arthritis.
