Japan Airlines (JAL) plans to launch its flying taxi business in fiscal year 2025.

The airline will provide services to transport passengers between airports and tourist destinations. According to the idea of the company, it would be a business similar to a taxi.

JAL plans to use the aircraft of German company Volocopter, in which the Japanese airline invested in 2020, a two-seater electric drone with vertical take-off and landing. It can fly at a speed of up to 110 km / h. Flight range is 35 km.

Recently, a cooperation agreement was signed with Mai Prefecture, where it is planned to conduct trials and start providing commercial service, according to ixbt.

It is worth noting that Japan Airlines will not be limited to providing passenger transportation services. The company expects to organize training for operators and provide related services to other companies.
