The draw for the AFC U-23 Football Championship qualifiers was held today, Friday, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Ammon News Agency said that the qualifiers will witness the participation of 42 teams divided into 11 groups, with the group champions qualifying for the finals, to be held in Uzbekistan, along with the four best second-placed teams.
The coach of the Jordanian national team, Ahmed Hayel, stated that the draw was balanced, with the presence of three teams in the group, which enhances the chances of qualification, stressing his respect for all teams and his ambition to provide a level that reflects the reputation of Jordanian football.
The results of the lottery were as follows:
Group One: Syria, Qatar (host country), Yemen, Sri Lanka.
Group B: Iran, Tajikistan (host country), Lebanon, Nepal.
Group C: Iraq, Bahrain (host country), Afghanistan, Maldives.
Group D: Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Kuwait (host country), Uzbekistan.
Group E: UAE (host country), Oman, India, Kyrgyzstan.
Group F: Jordan (host country), Palestine, Turkmenistan.
Group G: Australia, China, Indonesia (host country), Brunei.
Group H: South Korea, Singapore (host country), East Timor, Philippines.
Group 9: Vietnam, Myanmar, Hong Kong, China Taipei (host country).
Group 10: Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Mongolia (host country).
