The film “Moscow Doesn’t Believe Tears” will be shown for the second time Thursday (July 8th) at the “Balzac” cinema in Paris in memory of its late Russian director Vladimir Menshov.
This was announced by the head of the Quand les russes Russian Film Festival in Paris, Marc Ryuskar, who said that the film “Moscow Doesn’t Believe Tears” was shown last Sunday in Paris on the last day of the festival, and now the decision has been made to repeat its screening in memory of the prominent Russian director Vladimir Menshov, who died Monday July 5 in Moscow infected with the Corona virus.
Ryuskar noted that Menshov’s Oscar-winning American film is popular with French viewers, and has been included in the list of timeless classic Russian films. And he said, “We wanted to invite Vladimir Mebenshov to attend the screening of his film in Paris, but the spread of the Corona virus epidemic prevented us from achieving this.”
It is noteworthy that the Quand les russes Festival of Russian Cinema was created in 2015. Its president, Marc Ruskar, in the Soviet era took over the management of the Moss Media company, which screened Soviet and Russian films in France. He was also an agent for the famous French comedian, Pere Richard, in Russia.
This year’s Russian Film Festival was held under the slogan Quand les Russes nous bouleversent (When the Russians Shake Us). The festival program, which ended on July 4, included the films “Conference” 2020 directed by Ivan Tverdovsky, “The Siege Diaries” 2020 directed by Andrei Zaitsev, “Whale Killer” 2020 directed by Philip Yurev and others.
