LONDON (Reuters) – British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Monday that fans should support the England national football team this week with enthusiasm but also with responsibility.
The Prime Minister’s statements came when he was asked about the risks posed by fans heading to the stadiums to support the national team in the semi-finals of the European Nations Cup “Euro 2020”, according to “Reuters”.
During a press conference, Johnson was asked if this risked events witnessing a “super spread” of the Corona virus, and he replied: “My advice to everyone is clearly is to support the England team, enthusiastically but in a responsible manner.”
Two days ago, England qualified for the semi-finals of the European Championship “Euro 2020”, after winning four goals to none against its Ukrainian counterpart, in the quarter-final match that was held at the “Olympico” stadium in Rome.
England will face Denmark next Wednesday in the semi-finals of the tournament.
Britain is scheduled to lift many of the restrictions imposed to limit the spread of the Corona virus in the country, starting from the 19th of this month, despite the high rate of hospitalizations due to infection.
