Today, Wednesday, the internationally recognized Yemeni government warned of the increasing threats of cyber activities of terrorist organizations in Yemen to the security and stability of the region, calling for its continued support in counter-terrorism efforts.
Cairo – Sputnik. This came in Yemen’s speech delivered by the Undersecretary of the Yemeni National Security Apparatus, Major General Saleh Al-Maqaleh, during the high-level conference of heads of counter-terrorism agencies and agencies in the member states of the United Nations, in New York, according to the Yemeni news agency “Saba”, which broadcasts from Riyadh.
Saleh said, “The threat of ISIS (banned in Russia) has increased at a high rate in cyber activities and social networks in Yemen, as well as the consolidation of its relationship and continuous coordination with the Houthis and terrorist groups in Yemen represented by al-Qaeda and ISIS to destabilize the security and stability of Yemen and the region.”
Major General Al-Maqaleh reiterated Yemen’s effective partnership in regional and international efforts to combat terrorism, stressing the need for continued cooperation and coordination to combat this dangerous phenomenon.
The Yemeni official called on the international community to “continue support for Yemen in efforts to combat terrorism, whose impact is reflected on regional and international peace and security.”
Since the outbreak of the conflict in Yemen in late 2014, terrorist organizations have taken advantage of the fragile security situation in the country due to the continuation of the conflict to expand their influence and launch attacks and bombings that left many dead and wounded.
