This came according to the Japanese “Kyodo” news agency, quoting the Tokyo metropolitan government, as it confirmed that the Olympic torch will not pass through public roads in the capital, except for small areas, in the period from July 9 to 16. To prevent the spread of COVID-19 among citizens.

The local authorities in Japan indicated that the Olympic torch was scheduled to pass through 46 Japanese prefectures, while the state of emergency in the country ends on July 11, according to the Japanese agency.
The President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, will arrive in Japan on the ninth of next month, to visit Hiroshima on the sixteenth of the same month, after postponing his visit from last May.

The Japanese authorities had decided to postpone the Summer Olympics in Tokyo since last year 2020, due to the Corona pandemic, to be held this summer, starting from July 23, and continuing until next August 8.

In the context of Tokyo’s commitment to precautionary measures, the Japanese government decided, earlier in the month, to hold the 2020 Olympics and the Paralympics without spectators, knowing that it was decided to allow about 10,000 spectators, if it does not exceed 50% of the venue’s capacity.
