The Spaniards stick to putting the muzzle in the open air, despite the abolition of this restriction
For the first time in more than a year, the Spaniards were able today, Saturday, to give up masks while strolling in the park or during a trip to the beach, but some still put them on to ensure their protection from Covid-19.
“I am surprised because I expected to see many people without masks, but most of them still wear them,” singer Manuel Mas, 40, said in the center of the capital Madrid.
Although wearing a mask outdoors is no longer required under the country’s newly relaxed rules, people will still have to wear it in indoor or crowded open spaces where social distancing is impossible.
Andrea Sosa, 20, a waitress from Madrid, said she would continue to cover her face because she had not yet received the vaccination. According to “Reuters”.
“For me, it is important to keep wearing a mask,” she added, while waiting to meet a friend in the crowded Puerta del Sol.
The infection rate across Spain during the past 14 days reached 95 cases per 100,000 population, down from about 150 cases a month ago, according to figures from the Spanish Ministry of Health on Friday.
A few days ago, the ministry said that half of the country’s 47 million population had received at least one dose of the vaccine.
According to official data, about three million and 782,463 have been confirmed infected with the Corona virus, while 80,779 have died due to “Covid-19”.
