Switzerland hails US “constructive approach” to Iran

Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis said that US President Joe Biden expressed his support for the speedy delivery of more food and medicine to Iran through a Swiss humanitarian channel.

He explained that Washington supports the process of accelerating the approval of the financial transfers necessary to deliver this aid to Tehran, which represents a constructive approach towards Iran.

Speaking at a press conference in Geneva, after 30 minutes of talks with Biden, he added that “the United States is ready to accelerate its decisions so that we can use this humanitarian channel to the ideal.”

In addition, Cassis stressed that Switzerland is always ready to assist in the exchange of prisoners, “especially for countries that represent its interests.”

The US president arrived in Geneva on Tuesday, a day before his first summit with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.
