NATO: Attacking spacecraft or carrying out attacks from space will lead to a collective response

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg stressed today, Monday, that attacks on NATO spacecraft or attacks from space can lead to a collective response.
An attack on NATO spacecraft or attacks from outer space would amount to aggression against NATO members, Stoltenberg said.

He added that such steps could lead to a “collective response”, noting that the alliance did not intend to “militarize” near-Earth space.

The Secretary-General of NATO had earlier suggested that space attacks be considered an attack on the alliance as a whole, and indicated that such an initiative would make it possible to equalize defensive conditions at sea, land, space and air.
