Denmark summons the Russian ambassador over allegations of Russian fighter jets violating its airspace

Today, Monday, the Danish Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian ambassador in Copenhagen to the ministry headquarters, against the background of allegations that Russian warplanes violated Danish airspace last Friday.

“The violation by Russian fighters of Danish airspace twice is a serious and unacceptable violation and a violation of international laws,” Danish Foreign Minister Yeppe Kofod said in a statement.

A Danish Foreign Ministry statement indicated that the Foreign Minister, who will attend the NATO summit in Brussels on Monday, is scheduled to discuss the incident with his colleagues from the alliance countries.

The move came after the Danish Defense Ministry claimed earlier that Russian fighters had violated the country’s airspace twice within a day.
