Film distributors protest against the lack of recognition of the movie “Killers”

Film distributors have protested that the Film Promotion Committee did not approve the documentary “Killers”, which talks about the assassination of Kim Jong-nam, the older half-brother of the North Korean leader.

Da Koop, What Sheta Film Import and Distribution and Kth Distribution issued a letter Monday, asking the Film Promotion Committee to explain why it does not recognize “Killers” as an art film and to clearly detail the evaluation criteria.

The documentary deals with the assassination of Kim Jong Nam, the elder brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, at Kuala Lumpur Airport in Malaysia on February 13, 2017, by two women. It was shown for the first time at the Sundance Independent Film Festival last year.

It is noteworthy that the film was produced by the American company and directed by director Lion White, and he won the Best Director award with the film “Da Keith August 8” at the 30th Sundance Festival in 2014.

On the 17th of last month, the Film Promotion Committee was informed that the movie “Killers” would not be recognized as an art film worthy of distribution.

Distributors claim that the documentary is an ideal genre for artistic independent film, and that the film in question has been artistically recognized at world-famous film festivals, and does not lack the criteria for evaluation.
