With the Palestinian keffiyeh, Algeria defeats Mauritania by four

The friendly confrontation of the Algerian team against its Mauritanian guest, in which the desert warriors swept the match 4-1 on Thursday, witnessed the solidarity of the “Greens” with the Palestinian cause.

The players of the Algerian national team expressed their solidarity with Palestine and stood against the recent events in the Gaza Strip, by wearing scarves (keffiyeh) in the colors of the Algerian and Palestinian flags on their shoulders before the whistle of the start of the match that took place at the “Mustafa Chaker” stadium in the Algerian city of Blida.

It was also interesting to write the names of the “Green” players, the holder of the 2019 African Nations Cup, on their shirts in Arabic.

Algeria dominated from the start, with Sofiane Feghouli opening the scoring in the 41st minute, before Sidi Yacoub equalized for Mauritania in the 56th minute.

Feghouli returned again to score the second goal for himself and his country in the 59th minute, before Adam Ounass managed to score the third goal in the 61st minute, to be the end with Baghdad Bounedjah by scoring the fourth goal in the 71st minute.

The Algerian national team and its Mauritanian counterpart are preparing for the African Nations Cup, to be held in Cameroon early next year, and both will participate in the African qualifiers for the World Cup, which begins in late August.

Algeria is in Group A in the qualifiers along with Djibouti, Burkina Faso and Niger, while Mauritania is in Group B along with Tunisia, Zambia and Equatorial Guinea.

It is worth noting that the team of desert warriors will face its counterpart Mali at home next Sunday, and then it will be a guest of the Tunisian team on June 11, in a friendly.
