A new study has revealed fascinating information linking one of the world’s most common foods to cancer and several other diseases.

And a new American study confirmed that eating 18 grams of mushrooms per day can reduce the risk of cancer.
The study published in the newspaper “scmp” indicated that individuals who eat medium-sized mushrooms, daily, have a 45 percent lower risk of developing cancer compared to those who do not eat this mushroom.

Mushrooms have been Chinese medicine for centuries

According to Penn State University research published in the specialized scientific journal “Advances in Nutrition”, Chinese medicine practitioners for centuries have used mushrooms, which are rich in vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants, as a treatment for ailments including lung diseases.

It is believed that some of the chemical compounds in mushrooms directly strengthen the immune system.

Researchers in Pennsylvania examined 17 cancer studies from 1966 to 2020, and analyzed more than 19,500 cancer patients.
Mushroom is an effective antioxidant

The team’s findings showed that although shiitake mushrooms and oysters contained higher amounts of the amino acid ergothioneine than white, cremini and portobello mushrooms, people who included any variety of mushrooms in their daily diets were less likely to develop cancer. .

“Mushrooms are the highest dietary source of ergothioneine, a unique and effective antioxidant and cellular protector,” said Gabriel Ba, a graduate student in epidemiology at Penn State College of Medicine.

“The replenishment of antioxidants in the body may help protect against oxidative stress and reduce the risk of cancer,” the researcher added.
