Kuwaiti National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim called for an emergency summit of the Arab Parliamentary Union to discuss developments in Jerusalem events in light of the clashes between Palestinian protesters and the Israeli police.

This was reported by the official page of the Kuwaiti National Assembly, on Twitter, today, Sunday, in a blog post in which it said that “Parliament Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanem is submitting a request to hold an emergency session of the Arab Parliamentary Union as soon as possible.”

And she continued, “The violations of the occupation against the Holy Mosque and the ethnic cleansing operations in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood will be discussed.”

Clashes broke out between Palestinian demonstrators and the Israeli police outside the Old City of Jerusalem, during the past few days, and escalated on Saturday, as tens of thousands of Muslims in the Al-Aqsa Mosque prayed qiyaam on a night that may have been Laylat al-Qadr.

The Israeli security forces suppressed dozens of Palestinian demonstrators in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in Jerusalem with wastewater and rubber bullets, which led to a number of injuries, according to a “Sputnik” correspondent.
