Tenet star John David Washington will be on the run in new Netflix thriller movie Beckett, with the first image from the film suggesting that his character won’t get through the movie’s events without an injury or two.

The official NetflixFilm Twitter account has shared a first-look image of Washington in the movie, which shows him in what looks like a train station while looking over his shoulder with concern.

He appears to have two bullet holes in his shirt, which is also soaked with blood, while he also has a blue cast or glove on his hand, suggesting that he’s been involved in a bit of a battle already.

Netflix describes Beckett’s plot as being about “a man ensnared in a violent conspiracy while vacationing in Greece”, which has us suitably intrigued about how events will unfold.

Beckett, which will launch on Netflix this summer, also stars Tomb Raider actress Alicia Vikander, Logan star Boyd Holbrook and The Girl in the Spider’s Web’s Vicky Kriepsstar.

The movie, which was initially titled Born to Be Murdered, is directed by Antonia director Ferdinando Cito Filomarino and produced by Call Me By Your Name director Luca Guadagnino.

Tenet director Christopher Nolan recently endorsed Washington for a superhero role, suggesting that he would be a great choice for a new Green Lantern movie.

“I think my DC days are over,” he said when asked if he would consider directing a Green Lantern film. “I think [Washington] would be an excellent choice. He certainly gets my vote.”

But could we see Washington return to his Tenet role as The Protagonist in future? The actor has revealed that although he has no idea whether Nolan would want to revisit the story, he personally would love to explore the movie’s ideas more.

“I hope we get to do it again, I hope we get to explore more, because I think we found something really unique,” he said.
