After Spotify … Facebook is adding its own podcast player into its app

The American social networking company, Facebook, confirmed today, Monday, that it has created its own podcast player within its application on smartphones.

The podcast player will be separate from the new “Spotify” player within the “Facebook” application, which was recently announced, according to “The Verge”.
While the exact details of the podcast are still unclear at the moment of writing these lines, it will help those in charge of distributing their programs through their Facebook page.

And “Facebook” said in a statement last week that it is expected that its podcast feature will be launched within “the next few months.”

It makes sense to create a Facebook podcast of its own, especially since more than 170 million people link to podcast pages, and more than 35 million people are members of fan groups about radio programs, and the podcast is still primarily an ad-based product. It means that “Facebook” may collect data about the programs and their listeners and target its own ads against them.

Almost all tech giants run their own podcast products, such as Apple, Google, Amazon and Spotify, along with other smaller apps.

The company “Facebook” recently announced the launch of a player belonging to the music application “Spotify”, which will be located in the news bar of each user, and will allow users to play music and podcasts from within “Facebook” directly.

The Spotify player within Facebook will be available on iPhone and Android phones and in 27 markets, including the United States, just as a start.

And just like the regular Spotify app, free users will hear the ads as well.
