Lionel Messi scored twice in a landslide 4-0 win for Barcelona over Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey final on Saturday, extending the Catalan club its record and winning the title for the 31st time.

Antoine Griezmann put Barcelona ahead an hour later, when he diverted a cross from Frenkie de Jong towards the goal, before the Dutch midfielder doubled the score for the Catalan club three minutes later, according to Reuters.

Messi suffered some roughness from the Bilbao players, but he took revenge with a wonderful goal in the 68th minute when he made his way from the right side and exchanged the ball with De Jong before passing by another defender to put the ball in the net.

The Barcelona captain scored a second goal four minutes later when he received a cross pass from Jordi Alba to fire a shot from inside the penalty area, which Bilbao goalkeeper Unai Simon failed to stop.
