Brazil is building a colossal statue of Jesus Christ in the south of the country, with rooms and an elevator inside that enables tourists to climb to a great height.

The statue of “Christ the Protector” is being erected in Incantado, a small town in the far south of Brazil, by a local organization called Friends of Christ (AACristo).

“CNN” quoted the association with details of the materials from which the statue is constructed, as it includes parts of steel and reinforced concrete.

The statue is 43 meters (141 feet) high, 16 feet longer than the height of “Christ the Redeemer” in Rio de Janeiro.

The organization said the statue will be the third tallest statue of Jesus in the world, after a 249-foot statue currently under construction in Mexico and a 172-foot tall monument in Poland.

The statue is the work of the sculptor, Genesio Gómez Mora, and his son Marcus Moura. The statue is equipped with an elevator that can transport visitors to a great height with windows to view the landscapes of the area.
